Oukitel WP30 Pro smartphone review – Huge battery, night vision camera and secondary display

The Oukitel WP30 Pro has WiFi 6 as the fastest Wi-Fi standard, which means that it cannot access the 6 GHz band for Wi-Fi connections, but it gets the maximum out of the supported frequency ranges of 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz.

Thus, the speed difference to the Galaxy XCover 6 Pro with WiFi 6E is not too big, and you can also use a gigabit Internet connection quite well with the Oukitel WP30 Pro. Close to the router, the reception is full, and pages load fast. At a distance of 10 meters and through 3 walls, 3/4 of the signal quality is still available and the page loading is also very fast.

The manufacturer installs a 5G modem that can handle many frequency ranges, so you can also use mobile Internet on most trips abroad. Many bands are also supported in the 4G range.

The software used is Android 13. The security patches are from August 2023 and thus a bit older. The manufacturer does not really want to specify an update period, but only talks about sporadic updates over 3-5 years.

Oukitel hardly changes anything in the standard Android and does not install any adware ex-factory. The translation of the own functions in the settings is not always successful.

The touchscreen is very reliable to use, even at the edges and in the corners. There is a freely assignable button on the casing’s left that can be used to execute various commands or launch apps.

The fingerprint sensor is integrated into the standby button on the right. It recognizes fingerprints very accurately and unlocks the phone in a flash. Other commands can also be executed here, such as touching the sensor to accept calls.

There is also a face recognition feature, but it is only based on 2D image recognition and is thus not quite as secure. Thus, it is not surprising that the system allows locking the system via face, but biometric login, for example in banking apps, is only possible with the fingerprint.
